Ultraviolette
India's Fastest Electric Motorcycle Brand
What Kind of Vehicles Ultraviolette Makes Ultraviolette Automotive is India's first and most ambitious high-performance electric two-wheeler brand. The company is heavily influenced by aerospace and fighter jets, and every product it makes carries that DNA — futuristic, performance-first, and technology-dense. Their lineup spans multiple segments: F Series — Performance Sport Motorcycles — The F77, F77 Mach 2, and F77 SuperStreet are the brand's foundation, targeting riders who want genuine sportsbike performance from an electric motorcycle. X Series — Crossover / Adventure Electric — The X47 Crossover is the brand's more accessible, everyday electric motorcycle, designed for urban and semi-urban use with adventure bike aesthetics. Shockwave — Electric Enduro / Funduro — The Shockwave is an electric enduro motorcycle targeting enthusiasts, designed to give riders the same excitement as an old-school two-stroke enduro motorcycle. Tesseract — Electric Maxi Scooter — The Tesseract is a maxi-scooter with a sharp, futuristic design that bundles a host of advanced technologies to appeal to young and tech-savvy riders, marking Ultraviolette's entry into India's fast-growing electric scooter segment. F99 — Factory Racing Platform — The F99 was unveiled at EICMA Milan, showcasing India's first electric superbike with active aerodynamics. --- Origin & Brand Identity Ultraviolette was conceived in 2016 by founders Narayan Subramaniam and Niraj Rajmohan, infused with aviation DNA. Both experienced in automotive technology, they started Ultraviolette to change urban electric motorcycles. Based in Bangalore, they spent almost six years on research and development before launching their first major product, the Ultraviolette F77, in October 2022. Their designs, influenced by aerospace and aviation, give each motorcycle a modern and distinctive look. The startup went through multiple design iterations before finalizing the seventh version — hence the name F77. The company's tagline — "We Don't Wait For The Future. We Create It" — captures its positioning perfectly. Ultraviolette is not chasing the mass market; it is defining a category. --- Product Deep-Dive F77 & F77 Mach 2 — The Flagship The F77 family is what put Ultraviolette on the map. The F77 Mach 2 is armed with an aviation-derived electric drivetrain, delivering 30 kW of peak power, 100 Nm of torque, a WMTC range of 231 km, and a top speed of 155 km/h. The F77 SuperStreet is a handlebar-swapped, more upright variant of the same platform, targeting riders who want performance with a more relaxed riding posture. The F77's flagship SRB battery carries an 8-year/800,000 km warranty — an industry-leading commitment for an EV motorcycle. X47 Crossover — The Everyday Electric The Ultraviolette X-47 is the company's electric motorcycle built for everyday use, packing a ton of features. Priced starting at ₹2.49 lakh, it is the most accessible entry into the Ultraviolette ecosystem and is positioned as India's first electric adventure-crossover motorcycle. Ultraviolette also introduced a Battery Flex ownership model for the X-47 — a Battery-as-a-Service programme developed with Ecofy to reduce the upfront cost of ownership. Shockwave — Electric Enduro The Shockwave has confirmed deliveries beginning in July 2026, priced under ₹1.75 lakh. It is positioned as one of the most affordable performance EVs in the country and carries significant global potential, particularly for emerging markets and off-road enthusiasts. Tesseract — Electric Maxi Scooter The Tesseract is Ultraviolette's most ambitious and complex product to date. Ultraviolette offers three variants: 3.5, 5, and 6, denoting battery capacity in kWh. The 3.5 variant uses a 10 kW motor, while the 5 and 6 variants use a 15 kW motor, offering ranges of 162 km, 220 km, and 261 km respectively. However, the launch has faced engineering challenges. The original plan was to use the tried-and-tested powertrain platform from the F77 and X-47, but engineers ran into significant packaging restrictions with the scooter form factor. The delivery timeline has now been pushed to Q1 2027. The Tesseract had to be ramped up to a 100V battery architecture — far above the 50–60V used by most e-scooters — along with different thermal management methods, to match its performance claims. F99 — The Racing Benchmark The F99 set new national records for the fastest quarter-mile time and the top speed for an Indian-made motorcycle, reaching 258 km/h. In its current form, the F99 is a competition-spec bike producing 90 kW of peak power. A road-legal version is expected in the future. --- Manufacturing Ultraviolette's modern manufacturing facility in Bengaluru spans 70,000 square feet, located in Electronics City. The plant handles production of the F77 family and the X-47 series. A new, larger plant is under development to support the Shockwave and Tesseract volumes expected from 2026–27. Ultraviolette set up its manufacturing and assembling facility in Electronics City, Bengaluru in its early years, and the brand has remained Bengaluru-based throughout its growth journey — making it a rare example of a high-tech EV manufacturer operating out of India's startup capital. --- Global Presence Ultraviolette has moved decisively into international markets — a rare achievement for an Indian two-wheeler startup. The company has expanded to 30 cities across India and recently entered international markets, launching F77 motorcycles in the United Kingdom, bringing its presence to 12 countries across Europe. In April 2026, Ultraviolette entered six new markets in Central Europe — Hungary, Croatia, Slovakia, Romania, Slovenia, and the Czech Republic — through a partnership with Elektrorider. The Ultraviolette F77 Mach 2 has already received certifications to enter countries like Germany, France, Italy, and Spain. And then came the crowning moment of global validation: on June 6, 2026, the Ultraviolette F77 became the first Indian motorcycle to complete a lap of the Isle of Man TT circuit — a feat recognised by both the Asian Book of Records and the Indian Book of Records. --- Technology & Research Technology is at the heart of everything Ultraviolette builds. The company describes itself as a manufacturer of electric vehicle platforms and battery technology, not just motorcycles. Aviation-Derived Drivetrain — Every F77 and X-47 uses what Ultraviolette calls an aviation-derived electric drivetrain, prioritising efficiency, thermal performance, and sustained output under load. Smart Tech & Connectivity — Ultraviolette's bikes feature a connected app ecosystem, over-the-air software updates, ride analytics, and multiple ride modes including a signature "Flight Mode" for maximum performance. UV Supernova Fast Charging — The UV Supernova DC fast-charging network was introduced alongside the F77 Mach 2, providing proprietary rapid charging infrastructure across India. UV Space Stations — These are Ultraviolette's branded retail and service hubs providing sales, service, and spares — expanding rapidly, with five new stations launched within a single 72-hour window in mid-2025. Radar Technology — The X-47 was unveiled with radar integration, pointing toward advanced rider assistance systems as a future direction. Battery Innovation — Ultraviolette's BMS modules have shrunk significantly in size over the years, a critical achievement for packaging in tighter form factors like the Tesseract scooter. Connected Helmet — Ultraviolette also manufactures rider safety equipment including a smart carbon-fibre helmet (UV Crossfade) with integrated communication systems, extending the brand into rider gear. --- Funding & Investors Ultraviolette has raised a total of $149 million across 15 funding rounds from 46 investors since its first round in April 2016. The most recent round — a $45 million Series E in December 2025 — was led by Zoho Corporation (led by Sridhar, Mani, and Kumar Vembu) and Lingotto, one of Europe's largest investment firms with a legacy of backing iconic performance and mobility brands. TVS Motor Company has been a backer since the Series C round. Actor Dulquer Salmaan is also among the angel investors. --- Sales & Market Performance Ultraviolette registered its best-ever quarter sales of 975 units in Q1 CY2026 (January–March 2026), up 373% year-on-year, and is well set to achieve record annual sales of around 3,800–4,000 units in CY2026. The electric motorcycle segment in India currently has only a few players — Revolt Motors, Ultraviolette, Ola Electric, Oben EV, and a handful of others — making Ultraviolette's consistent growth particularly notable in a nascent category. --- Future Plans Ultraviolette has laid out one of the most ambitious product roadmaps of any Indian EV brand. The company plans to introduce ten more products by 2028, spanning multiple segments from performance motorcycles to scooters to off-road bikes. The company aims to reach 100 cities across India by mid-2026. Exports are already underway across 12+ European markets, with Central Europe now added via the Elektrorider partnership. The Shockwave is confirmed for July 2026 delivery, and the Tesseract is now targeting Q1 2027 — with significantly upgraded engineering under the hood compared to what was originally announced. The F99 racing platform, which set national records at NATRAX Indore, is expected to spawn a road-legal street version in the coming years — potentially India's fastest street-legal motorcycle. From a Bengaluru garage to the Isle of Man TT, Ultraviolette is building something India has never seen before in the two-wheeler space — a technology-first, globally ambitious, performance electric motorcycle brand that refuses to compromise on either thrill or vision.
